The illustration to the right is an example of a target fired from a customers unmodified rifle. He used Sierra 175 MK bullets, Lake City Brass (also used Fed GM brass), Match primers and Varget powder (a full grain under max). The bullets were seating to standard magazine length at approximately 2.855 inches over all length. Case prep was nominal. Uniform primer pockets and trim to length. As illustrated, the rifle can turn out amazing accuracy with very little effort handloading. Factory match ammo has shown groups in the .3 to .6 range depending on ammo. Results may vary but this target illustrated a typical group with this individual rifle and this one handload. Take note that the cold bore shot is the highest in the group and is north of center by an amazing 1/8 inch!

Just received my R5, looks great! Now I just need to save for some nice glass. The one down side, they lowered the price by $18 five days after I bought mine.

for $1000 this gun will out shoot most custom guns costing double the money..it is a solid rifle and when shooting the recoil is hardly felt due to it's weight ...it is very consistent with any ammo you shoot in it but case fired reloads do the best in my gun..i really feel like it is well worth the money for what you get ..1/2 MOA is the normal for this rifle , as far as the R-5 being easier to clean because of the rifling design , i personally cant tell a difference...if you buy the rifle you wont regret it .

Took mine too the range for the first time today. It definitely lived up to the hype. First 5 rounds went inside a quarter with fairly strong wind. Felt solid and was a dream to shoot. Just an awesome rifle. What are you waiting for.....buy it!

Most accurate rifle I've ever owned. A true 1/2moa rifle. Actually shot a 3/4" group at 465yds.(0.16 moa)

I bought one with a little skepticism but hopeful that it would live up to the reviews. My gunsmith whose shop/underground range was not impressed until I put my first 175 grain match king rounds through it. It was 1/4 moa at 100 yds underground and less than 1/2 moa later in the day outside at 400 yrds. I've never been happier with a $1000.00 gun.

As a novice to sport shooting, I wanted a rifle that was more capable than I, but affordable. The 700SS-5R proved to meet my expectations, and more. This past weekend I shot 16 rounds to begin the break-in and dial in the scope. The shape and feel of the gun is very comfortable. The Mark 4 Tactical scope, mount, and rings I purchased from SCPx, installed and performed flawlessly. The last 3 shots at 100 yards were nice; two of the three touching. Talk about out-of-the box accurate, this gun is everything I’ve read about it and I’m sure there’s more. Also, the SCPx expertise, technical support, and customer service are top-notch.

I did the research and this was my weapon of choice for long range gun. handles beautifully, my friend shot it and already is planning his purchase. Mounted the Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40 with Badger Ordnance Rings and 20 MOA rail. Had the nice shiny stainless barrel coated with Roguard coating to make a little more tactical and weather resistant. I am just starting but is looking at very good groups. One note, if you read about this rifling, it should work best with heavier rounds, 175 or 180 grain vs the lighter rounds.

This is an outstanding rifle! IT is very accurate, consistently under 1/2 MOA at 100yds. I have even shot a couple of sub 1/4 MOA groups. As said above, the Stainless Steel is not very tactical, but the rifle does look very nice. Also, the service at this site is outstanding. Scott is great to deal with and the shipping is fast. I recommend the rifle and the site.

I was a USMC Sniper when we had mainly sporter barrels on Winchester Mod 70. Laminated stocks, and 3x9 Redfield. I loved it. I received my assignment and M40 shortly after Hathcock started the formal USMC Sniper School. Last month I walked in to my local adult toy store and the Owner/Gunsmith, who knows a little of my Marine Corps career, tell me to not move and wait. A few minutes later he places a 700SS 5R MilSpec in my hands. I closed my eyes and it felt a little familiar until I squeezed the trigger, trouser stain. I sent it to Robar to have it coated in the same stuff they put on the Navy Seals Sniper Weapons (Can't stand SS barrels on a tactical rifle). I have done a few thing to it since but nothing major. I HAVE NEVER IN 45 YEARS OF LONG DISTANCE SHOOTING BEEN ABLE TO HIT SO MANY BULLS WITH SO LITTLE EFFORT. I make my wife sleep on the sofa because I am still getting familiar with my new love.

Saw the pics of the .25 MOA group above and thought"yea Right!" Bought it anyway. Its no hype, first day out with handloads never had a group over .75, With ANYTHING. Best of day, .332 Sierra 110gr HP Varmiter over 40gr. RE-7. Most accurate rifle I ever owned!

A quality rifle that has a solid feel to it. The newer Remington X-Pro trigger that this rifle comes with is certainly an improvement. This is an extremely accurate rifle that can produce 1/2 MOA at 100 yards. Out of the box, this Remington 700SS 5R Milspec can compete with the best of them.
