The VEPR is simply the highest quality rifle based on the Kalashnikov design. The VEPR(tm) Rifles and Carbines are sporting arms based on the famous Soviet designed RPK machine gun. VEPR rifles are manufactured by the historic Vyatskie Polyany Machine Building Plant (a.k.a. "MOLOT"). Molot has been building excellence into their firearms for over 50 years.
 
The RPK receiver is the Vepr receiver. This Vepr RPK receiver was built for extreme sustained fire and therefore was made of 50% thicker steel. The trunnion of the Vepr like the RPK has heavy reinforcements on both sides. The engineering of the Vepr has produced a receiver that is actually more stable than a machined receiver. This receiver combined with the extra heavy duty target like barrel produces accuracy unparalleled and any comparisons should be done with the Russian Tiger Dragunov.
