We tested this unit for clarity and resolution out to 1000 yards. The ED glass is very very good. I was easliy able to see .30 caliber bullet holes in my 500 yard carboard colored target at its lower magnification settings. At its highest setting (50x to 60X depending on lighting) we were able to just pick out bullet holes at 1000 yards when shooting on a reactive paper target. This is the kind of target that leaves a small ring of white or green around the bullet hole. With out the special target, it was, as expected, very hard if not impossible to make out the holes. Which is normal with any scope. They were never designed to see small holes that far away. But to give you an idea of how well this scope resolved, the reactive target creates a white edged .410 inch diameter hole when shot with a .308 bullet. That means this scope is actually able to resolve a high contrast object under ONE HALF INCH at 1000 yards. Impressive!
